What Is An OFW?

An overseas Filipino worker or an OFW is considered as the modern-day heroes by the Philippine government. They give up a lot of things that are taken for granted by ordinary people in order to support their families in the Philippines. Each year millions of Filipinos travel to other countries hoping to find employment that will allow them to provide for their families back home. They normally earn in dollars, which they send back to their families as remittances that account for a good amount of the foreign currency holdings of the country.

However there is another kind of OFW who does not travel abroad in order to provide for the needs of their families. In fact a good number of these OFWs work in the comfort of their homes. These OFWs are also known as the Online Freelance Workers.

Similar to the OFWs who travel abroad, these stay-at-home OFWs earn in dollars although it may not be as much as what the OFWs abroad earn. However unlike the OFWs abroad, these home-based OFWs have the opportunity of being with their families while providing for their needs.

This is what I aim to do on a full-time basis 47 days from now.
