Importance of Creating An Online Portfolio

One of the biggest obstacles that a newbie freelancer will have to deal with is how to convince potential employers of your skills in the job you are applying for. It is not easy to prove to a potential employer that you  are talented enough to finish the job they are offering. Due to this it will be necessary for you to create an online portfolio.

When you create an online portfolio, you get to showcase your skills to your potential employer and possibly convince them that you are the right person for the job. In my case, since I am more inclined to writing jobs, I created two blogs, The NonProfessional Blogger and Journeys Around The Archipelago. These two blogs that I created hits three birds with one stone. I do not only show potential employers of my writing skills and style, it also shows them that I can post the articles directly into a blogspot or wordpress site as well as earn a few bucks through Google Adsense.

For webpage developers, they can create their own websites and include it in their portfolio that they create. This will allow potential employers to gauge their skills in the creating website. Graphics designers can take advantage of a number of websites that allow them to post their creations for free.

Article writers can also attach some of the articles that they created into their applications for the jobs posted by the potential employer or, for Odesk users, upload it as one of the items in their portfolio.

Landing your first online job may not be easy but if you want to increase your chances of convincing a potential employer that you are the right person for the job, it will be necessary for you to create an online portfolio to show them what you can do and start your career as an online freelance worker.
